Hi Jeff, welcome aboard!
Nicely exposed and all the bits that need to be in focus are. It would make for a nice tryptich with a couple of close ups, maybe a manufacturers plate or something?
Do you know what it is?
Warhammer by Jeff Shipton, on FlickrNick,Miniature - I think these make great subjects, I had considered going down to Games Workshop and taking a picture of something in store. Why the whiskey as a reference? Unless of course those guys have been on the bottle in which case we're all in deep s**t; you know what they're like when they're drunk.
Old - what a well-preserved stone. Arguably makes for a more interesting subject than the older but more weathered stones behind. I like the vivid colours too.
Steve,Miniature - I don't really know anything about these figures but they have some nice details in them. Without some sort of reference I would have no idea how big they are so the bottle do help with that but maybe you could have used something else related to the figures.
Old - Like Nick says, that's a very well preserved stone for the age. Not sure about the colour of the stone, looks very blue on my screen (ignore this if it was intentional).
Hi Jeff. Both have very vibrant treatments which works particularly well for Miniature. Old is nicely composed with the angled headstones in the bg - entirely a personal choice on treatment (I'm too biased in favour of b&w).
Miniature - Yup, plenty of detail there, as others have said / asked, good to have a scale reference, but why whisky bottles? (hic)
Old - Without reading the inscription you would never guess the headstone was 104 years old. Very well preserved. Not sure on the vibrance / blue hue though.
Hi Jeff ...lots of content there in your Miniature shot, as mentioned good use for scale....and I like the bright colours.
I'm sorry I'm not keen on the colour in your Old shot.
Steve,
Comments and feedback appreciated. Yes lots of great detail on the figures and a nightmare to paint especially at my age and with my eyesight !
