We are going to change our cooker for an identical model. I've read conflicting reports about fitting these. Some say that simply disconnecting the gas bayonet fitting does not require a gas safe fitter. Anyone confirm this please?

I think removing it doesn't but connecting it back up does. You'll need a gas safe person to check the new cooker is all tickety boo anyway.

Well all they'll do is connect the bayonet, spray soapy water on it and charge you £90.
 
I thought dual fuel cookers were the best of both worlds, what's your reason for changing out of interest?
 
I've just realised that a new hose will need to be fitted to the cooker itself. Whilst I feel confident about doing it myself I think that falls into the gas safe area.
 
if a new cooker is being installed, the bayonet connection needs to be connected by a competent person, eg a gas safe installer. If it's a cooker being disconnected for cleaning, and reconnected again, it doesn't need a competent person.
