I've read much about the KatzEye replacement focusing screen (the split prism design like my old film camera days really appeals & is a godsend when manual focusing) & would be interested to hear from anyone who has one or other info about them before taking the plunge and ordering one?
The site gives excellent instructions how to do the installation yourself but as I have been blessed with 8 thumbs & 2 fingers it is not something I'd be keen to try for myself! Does anyone know of a company (or individual) who could do the installation for me (without pulling my pants down over the price :embarrassed: - KatzEye charge $50 / £25 to do it but are in the US) - someone local to me in Surrey would be nice although I could RMSD the body I suppose (?)
Regards - Paul ;)

I can't speak for that one but back in my film days I had nothing but grief from split field focusing screens. One side would invariably be pitch black and useless.

Steep from what I have read those issues are a thing of the past - here is an excerpt from a thread specifically about the KatzEye & D200
AF is dead on, no noticable effect on my metering.
Manual focusing is even easier with this baby, hint- set your AF to wide and the center area for split screen opens up nicely. Best $100.00 spent for my D200.
Very slight loss of brightness, but I use fast glass anyways. My 28-200 G 5.6 zoom does not experience blackout phenomenom, if I stop down to 11 and less I will notice the blackout effect when I DOF preview. But this screen will work with your slow glass, unlike another version I use in my 20d, I get black out in focusing aid at 5.6.
Superb, easy to install except the D200 clip is a little more finicky clicking back then the one on my 20D.

I have two f2.8 lenses, an f4 ydangle & only one slow(ish) zoom a f4.5/5.6 so optimistically I wont have that "blackout" problem ... Paul ;)
