2 of the lenses i currently use might be up for grabs if i can source a single quality lens to replace them. The lesnes are Tamron 17-35 f/2.8 and the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 (latest versions) ...

so what i am after is a single quality lens covering from 17mm min to around 80mm. Anyone recommned a lens that would do this as well as the Tammys do for a reasonable price .. ?

thanks .. :)

There is no all in one solution in that range.

You'll struggle to do much better than the Tamrons - to do so, you'll need to consider the 17-35 f/2.8 AF-S (now £900+ used) and the Nikkor 24-70 (£900+ used), even then you'll need two lenses still.

keep both, if not replace the 28-75 with 24-70 by sigma (the new HSM would be cool, but expensive right now imo not worth the money)? i don't know the exact details on the new version, have you got the version code, is it SV or not ;)

i love the 17-35, it's great, and i got sigma 24-70 which i am very happy with. the only grunt i have is the tammy 70-200 great lens slow AF, but i won't ever dream of buying the nikon 70-200mm just not worth my while as i don't actually make money out this.
