Does anyone know if it's possible to get replacement springs for the shutters on box cameras? I have two now that don't rotate fully when triggered. Or does anyone think the problem is not the spring? Sorry, bit of a vague question!

Sometimes the only way to get spares for these really old cameras is to find a "donor" body... but it sounds like you have two with the same problem!

You're probably right. I could try taking one out of a 620 camera to go in a 120. Worth a look

As Chris suggests, à donor body for spares.

Before you start dismantling, is the mechanism clean as if gummed up it will cause the shutter to not rotate correctly......à clean with lighter fluid will usually loosen things up:)

Thanks Asha, I'll give it a try

It could be the original grease in the mechanism dried on the shutter blades rather than a week spring. I CLA'd the shutter on an Ensign 20 last night that had that problem. Probably not the best long term solution but some lighter fluid on a cotton bud can be wiped across the blades while working the mechanism.

Sorry, this ^^ didn't post earlier and I've just seen that Asha's said the same since!
