Hello all. Over a year ago, I bought a secondhand 430ex from ebay. It fired perfectly for a week, and then the damn flash bulb blew. I obviously couldn't ask for my money back, and instead had to grit my teeth.
I enquired to a few places about a repair, and they quoted me £80 (not technical enough to attempt a repair myself). So the flashgun went on the shelf, broken, dusty and in need of some funds to replace it. I was reluctant, as a new flashgun was £170, and after the repair, this secondhand flashgun would have cost me £200+.
Fast forward to present day, and I got another quote to have it repaired - apparently parts are no longer available (presumably official Canon parts) and so **** it. I've got a busted flashgun with no chance of being legitimately repaired by an official service centre, I might as well try to fix it myself (with the help of a tech-savvy friend).
Problem is, I don't know how to take it apart without breaking it/electrocuting myself, and I'm not sure what flash bulb to buy.
Does anyone have any experience or can point me to a tutorial? Google has failed me
Thanks in advance.
