The title says it all really. I'm looking to replace the Nikon strap on my camera. Primarily because I want something wider and more comfortable. I'd also prefer not to have D800 emblazoned across the strap. I'm looking for a direct replacement in terms of length. Obviously its got to be reliable and not dump my expensive toy on the floor. If you have any positive recommendations please share.

Cheers

Q-Strap. Check forum for thread and discount for TPer's.

I have just got an OpTech Pro strap and with my D7000 on it feels like the camera isn't there and very comfortable too and slightly longer than the OE strap if needed.

Another vote for the Q-Strap with L-plate

I've just recieved the Q Strap, not to sure I like it, and waiting on the OpTech Pro Strap to arrive. Reviews are good so hopefully this will be the strap Im looking for.

OpTech Pro.. I use them on a 40D and an RB67 - and that's a camera that *needs* a comfy neckstrap.

Optech Pro for me too, 5Dmk2 and heavy lens feels like a m4/3'rds

I use a Black Rapid RS-7, No Complaints. Obviously with any of the Black Rapids you are changing the way you carry your camera. I personally prefer it, much easier when walking around or during a portrait shoot where you are moving around and the camera is coming up and down to your eye frequently.

I suppose it wouldn't be as good if I was wanting to regularly wanting to use a tripod/monopod.

A worry I had was camera might knock in to things if by side, but i actually find when on a conventional strap i banged into things more than when at my side.

+1 for the Black Rapid. I had a conventional strap and really hated the camera boucing around in front of me. So I tended to put it over one shoulder and then felt it would slip off. The BlackRapid across the body, for me, is more secure and comfortable. Easy to push it behind my back when squeezing through somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've not heard of Qstrap before. I'll definitely take a closer look at them. I've already been looking at Black Rapid and Optech. There's quite a difference in price between them. Optech seen very reasonable. It's reassuring to hear some positive experiences about them.

Cheers

I use an Op/Tech pro and also the Op/Tech Dual Harness - usually with just a single body.

The Dual Harness shifts the weight from the neck to the shoulders, so is much more comfortable fro a heavy camera over long periods.

Since the connectors are common between the two op/techs, I can just grab the strap or harness and clip the camera to it very quickly depending on what I need.

Op/Tech. You can also get extension straps to make it longer for bandolier-type wearing, and a sling adaptor. Very comfy and not grossly overpriced like some brands... ;)

The solution that will satisfy you probably depends on how much weight you will be lugging around. I went from standard Canon straps to Optech Pro, and while there was a little improvement the fact remains that the forces are still pulling down on your neck. Stick a big lens on your camera and it will get annoying after a while.

I since moved to a Black Rapid double strap, which can be split and used as one strap if required. Now that's where the difference in comfort really shows. I can happily traipse about for hours with a couple of bodies and hefty lenses or even a Sigma 120-300/2.8 (well over 3Kg with body attached) and really not suffer.

Neck straps are fine for lighter loads or short periods of use. For anything else let your shoulders take the strain. It doesn't have to be Black Rapid, but something along those lines should provide plenty of relief from neck pain or general annoyance.

Basic optech strap worn bandolier style, with the prism housing next to your body is the most comfortable way, the lens will hang downwards.

Why people put a camera strap around their neck baffles me, especially with the lens pointing straight out, bouncing up and down.
