OK you lovely TP'ers you ...........

My Upright Hoover is buggered and I need a new one !

I want a cylinder type though, rather than another upright.

Which one should I get and why ?

Want to avoid Dyson if poss as I hate them.

Henry Hound, if you've got a dog that sheds like mine . . .

It has a motorized head. There's a chap in Somerset, close to the factory, who flogs `em on fleabay.

Don't know what it is about Dysons. After 2 years mine became very poor at cleaning, but I could see nothing wrong with it.
Got another and after 2 years it's going the same way.
Took it to bits and nothing is amiss.

Not getting another.

Are you sure it didn't need cleaning?

Those dust cyclones get very clogged up over time, and they are a buggar to clean properly.

Also the filters that are supposed to be washable eventually need replacing.

Dyson = overpriced tat. Best thing is to read the reviews from previous buyers, on the likes of Argos or Currys/Comet sites.

dont buy a VAX, i did and its a waste of space designed by the cleaner when the engineers were out for lunch. its crap at being a hoover, doesnt have a long enough hose etc oh and it proudly states 'TURBO' on the side, i didnt however realise that the noise would be similar to the deafening noise of sitting on the wing of a turboprop plane.

we have a David had it for best part of 12 years still as go0d today as the day we got it, it was a toss up between David (Green) and Henry(red) David won as he was green and I always wore green jumpers and my name, they made Blue ones but cant remember the name possible victor but I think that was the commercial use, which hospitals used, so Julie got the David the green one, they were dear when they first came out,I think their reasonable now

another vote for a henry, there cheep and clean fantasticly :)
Third vote from here. I replaced my upright with a hoover, despite my cleaner asking for one of these. A couple of years and yet another broken hoover later I got mine. These things are bullet proof.

i like my dyson, much better than the dysonalike i had before that blocked up after a couple of days and needed the filter cleaning. Ive had my dyson for 3 years, gets used everyday, a bit of maintenance once every couple of months and its great

I'm another one using a £25 Tescos one and it works great so far, but I haven't had it long.

Must admit I was not into that part, but now you mention that I will.

I'm gonna go for a Henry after all the recommendation !

£88 delivered !

I guess they're often dismissed because of their simplicity, but that just means less to go wrong as far as I'm concerned !

Thanks chaps !
