Replacement foot for 285 HV

Just snapped the plastic one and ordered a metal one to replace it.

ANyone done this, says on place I ordered from is easy, and includes instructions, but hoping for someone who can tell me from a first hand perspective.

Also I trawled google with no luck, so has anyone got a link to a step by step guide?

It's dead easy. 2 screws, and 2 solder joints and the jobs done. It's also got a proper sync socket on.

I've got one I swapped the foot in the spares cupboard I'd forgotten about until now...

BTW, I've got some spare battery holders too.

yep. dead easy to do, 4 screws and 2 solder joints. job done.

Looks like arriving tomorrow. How do I discharge the capacitor so I don't get a bolt of the thing? Or is that not possible doing this? Just nervous and want to make sure I don't hurt myself or mess things up when I do it.

you don't need to, you don't open the main body of the flash at all, just unscrew the foot, solder on the two wires that come out, and screw on.

Done and dusted. Not as bad as I thought! Nice timing as my night umbrella attachments from Flash arrive today too. All good, cheers for calming my thoughts before guys. was nowt to worry about
