Hi there....just a simple little query....are the cheapo replacement batteries available on the net - suitable for my canon 400d....thought i would just ask before i bought.....thanks....Jackie..

Jackie:

I bought NB - 2LH, equivelant batteries on eBay for my 350D over a year ago. I think they were about £12 each (Canon about £40). They have worked every bit as good as the one supplied with the camera and I've had no problems with them. Hope this is of assistance.

have a look in the traders section

:agree: (if they have the ones for your Canon) - otherwise the ones www.7dayshop.com sell are non branded but as good as my original Nikon ones were ... Paul ;)
PS - Unless you know what you're buying I'd avoid the £Bay ones jmo of course

I bought a replacement for my 350d from local camera shop.. It's an unnamed/unknown brand and is a lower capacity (only just) than my Canon one, but as the others have said, there's no issue with battery life at all.

I bought my Canon EOS 20D batteries from 7dayshop.com . I think I paid £19.99 for two (special deal) and they work just as well as the original battery.

Thanks for the tip....i can't believe the prices....amazing...i trust they last more than a day!! ..worth a try...definitely....not a lot lost if they don't.....jackie

I also bought 4 batteries for my 300D/30D (same battery thank god) from ebay, cost me around £30 quid for the lot inc p&p and they are superb.

7 Day shop ones are excellent for a 400D

I got a non branded one for my 400D a couple of months ago from the bay (kerso), cheap and very good value for money.

Put my ebay batteries through the test today, over 1100 shots at todays wedding and it got through it fine and still showing full.

Just to add a note here as nobody's yet mentioned it.

The various batteries for sale will be rated in mAh...milli-amp hours. This is the effective capacity of the battery and roughly determines how many shots you can take.

The various clones for sale have values from 750-2000 so are hugely different in their capacity....ie, 2000mAh models will take almost 3 times more shots than the 750mAh versions.

This is something to consider when deciding on price and value for money.

For what it's worth, I use Sterlingtek one's for both BP511 and NB-2L replacements and they have given no problems.
See the link in the traders forum...excellent value.

Bob
