just aaaaargh! :bang:

here's a brief history (no, not of time but there might be a big bang somewhere) of my camera - got it and noticed hundreds of crazy pixels, this was back in May, camera went to Fixation found 'nothing' and sent it back. Apparently pixel re-mapping isn't possible on a 1 series, first I heard cause I was aware they could...
So, when I got it back there was dirt INSIDE the prism...so you couldn't get at it even if you took the focusing screen off. Was busy over the summer so eventually took it in September to get sorted out - under war 'n tea - ok and fine it seemed when I got it back.
Out shooting in good light (thanks to the really warm october we've had) and a peep in the viewfinder shows not just bits of fluff but a dirty great finger print on the INSIDE of the viewfinder...as in opposite side of the glass you slap your eye up to! ...:shrug: exactly. WTF!
So, back I go at the begining of Nov - along with an error 01 problem thats been popping up. They fail to recreate the problem with a lens I left and said I 'might' need to replace the £200 IS unit [:bang:] though no definitive fault found but they said they'd hang onto it a bit longer to make sure...so thats another weekend without it...
The next week I ask for it to be sent back, with no repair to the lens just sort the camera out as I need it for the weekend, gave details so to be sent to my work address - since obivously being at work no one will answer the door at home...and what do they do?

Let me just say UPS leave minimal trace of having come by, let alone a contact number or parcel tracking no. 'king useless I tell you. several £k's worth of kit somewhere floating around the country and no way of tracking it down is not acceptable.

so, its been in 3 times overall and this last one's been 3 weekends without... and I'd not have been without if they'd done a proper job in the first place over 6 months ago :thumbsdown: frickin' nightmare! I hear people extoling their services - and god knows the internet is a hive of negativity (happy people less likely to report experiences unfortunately since it tends to leave just bad rap for businesses...) but tbh I've been left rather wanting, I'm not afraid to say. not impressed tbh, think I'll use Lehmanns if this lens need fixing - hear good things about them
 
Wow SS ... sounds like you have been through it with your gear ... really sorry to hear all that ... and the resultant 'without' weekends ... very bad news ... :thumbsdown:

No consolation I know as it is always a real bummer when you are without that prized bit of gear or more ... :shrug:

Can't really say more except I do know how you feel ... having suffered at some kinda failure soon after buying a new toy ... :shake:

So not good ... but I do hope it gets sorted for you pdq ... ;)

yeah. well, expecting it to arrive tomorrow...here's hoping!
 
ok, got it back...looks ok, quick peep through the viewfinder shows no marks.
I am concerned though at the fact there is a scratch on the top of the body...it is entirely cosmetic but the camera now no longer appears minty fresh as it did.
not good enough. after all the hassle its quite sad better care cannot be taken, I just don't understand, do they try to make work for themselves?!
