Entries open for Renault / MSA Young Motor Sport Journalist and Photographer of the Year 2008

The Motor Sports Association, the governing body of UK motor sport, is inviting submissions for the seventh Renault / MSA Young Motor Sport Journalist and Photographer of the Year awards.

Established in 2002 with support from Renault UK Limited, these two awards are designed to recognise and encourage the new generation of motor sport reporters and photographers working within UK motor sport. A panel of recognised experts from the sport and the media will consider the applications and the eventual winners will receive their awards at the MSA's star-studded 'Night of Champions' ceremony in January.

The winners not only receive recognition as notable talents of the future, but also cheques for £1,000. The winning photographer will also have their pictures displayed on the walls within Motor Sports House.

Candidates must have been aged 25 or under on the 1 January 2008 and be able to demonstrate published work involving domestic UK motor sport. They can come from local, regional, specialist or electronic media and are required to submit a minimum of three published articles or photographs from the UK media this year.

Application forms are available by email from msa@bentaylor.uk.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and entries must be submitted by 1 December, 2008.


Best of luck to anybody entering, and worth reading everything in detail, bizarrely you already need to be a published photographer to enter (so much for catching a break!), I'm young enough but not published :(

being published counts as having your work published on a website.. so if i was you i would ask castle combe website (if there is such a thing) to put some of your shots online.. sorted.. now you can enter.

btw we have at least one previous winner on the forum (not me btw I'm waaaaay too old )

I've had two published on the cover of the Castle Combe magazine, thinking about it (both competition wins) and another in Practical Photography Magazine (another competition win), will have to ask if those would be acceptable. I'm thinking maybe not.

Has anyone requested and received an application form yet?

I emailed on the 21st but haven't had anything back yet, but in that time did manage to contact Castle Combe, who kindly sent me their club magazine with my pic on the cover. It's arrived and is good to go :)

Yep just read mine (and you need a letter from a publisher/editor), that's me out as well.

Yup, I am going to work my arse off next year. I am determined to get a shot in Autosport. I am also going to try to get one in a Oulton Park programme. Basicallly I am just to going to try my damned hardest to get lots of publishings and get more reconigisation :)
 
Good news!! Ukaskew, you cna still enter. Just send in your three published PLUS two of your abosulte best ones with them!!
 
Just sent off for the application form for this. I've had two in Autosport, and the Canadian ad agency I posted about a couple of weeks ago has just confirmed they have accepted my fee, so that's three images published on both sides of the Atlantic. I haven't a hope of winning, I'm nowhere near good enough, but it's worth a go isn't it?

Indeed you have. It's nice feeling to earn my first bit of money from photography, better than being published last week in a way :)
