Yes
I'm not sure how to post it directly but I have 1 photo in my gallery on this site that unfortunately has lines down the middle as the mirror I shot it in had lines on it.

is there an easy way in photoshop / lightroom etc to remove these lines.. I did give it a go but it ended up looking a complete mess

If you post it up here so people can see the problem I'm sure someone will be able to help fix it & explain how it is done.

Have to assume you mean this one Creed ... ... as it is the only one in your gallery ... :D

Hope you don't mind me posting it ...

How about this - selective dodging and burning on the left side shoulder then a bit of cloning on the background which I then gaussian blurred to hide the clones - this is a rough job and you can still see the line on the shoulder if you look - but you get the idea.

The lines on the mirror are causing the darker tones to become lighter - so burning shadows and midtones is the answer - give it a go it's woorth the practice.

From what I can see you might have to Clone the lines out using the Clone Stamp tool ... ... might be a bit of a laborious chore though ... :suspect:

Maybe someone else can offer a quicker or more efficient method ...

HTH ... :D

Thanks Guy's I'll have a go myself as well but I'm still a complete begginer with photoshop when it comes to things like this... really impressed with the results Nigel thanks for that...

I'll have a go on the original tonight if I get chance, its actually growing on my for an avatar pic but the lines were driving me mad... I had been using the heal tool though (obviously wrong choice) so it was going very wrong

I'm stuck on a boring teleconference with clients who can't make up their minds about anything - I have to do some sort of displacement activity to avoid going mad ;)

:suspect: ... Hope they're not logged in here too then Nigel ...

I've used the clone stamp tool on this version, use a very soft brush setting and set the size to match a light and dark area of the slats, I cloned a darker area first (working up) and then cloned again from the lighter area. By using a brush the same size as the shadow and light areas it is easy to maintain your straight lines. Like Nigel I did a small amount of Gausian Blur on the background and for the shoulder I made a rough selection of the light area and adjusted in Levels, it's not perfect but you get the idea. Finally I flipped the image so the McCanon writing is the right way round.

Thanks again, wasn't expecting so much help with it, have to admit I do like the flipped version as well so will have to do a resize and replace my avatar image...

Nice one guys ... ... and what a simple but effective idea to flip Colin ... ;)

:p

Cut the head + shoulders out using the lasso tool on about a 15px feather. Then made a background layer (grey gradient) and pasted the head + shoulders on top. Flipped the image and sharpened.
