Removing a white cloth background...

A friend of mine has send me some images to see if I can play around removing the white cloth background. It's not something I've really done before so wondered if anyone knew the fastest.. painfree.. way?

Very quick and very crude.

Open,
Select the subject.
Feather by 5 pixels.
Invert the selection.
Blur, average.

If you are doing it yourself cut out with a pen tool, which is best IMO for these type of jobs - alternatively if its just a few images send it to www.clipping-path-asia.com who do a fantastic job on these, and costs around a pound per image.
