Remote Trigger of 2 x SB600

Hi,

Having recently moved house I have, of course, mislaid the booklets for my SB600s and my D700.

What I would like to know is, can I remotely fire the two SB600s with the D700 in commander mode, but without the D700 on board flash firing? I will be taking pictures of planted fish tanks, so I could do without the glare from the D700 flash on the front glass.

Not afaik (I have a D300), but you can dial down the on-board to -3, which should have some impact (and then you could possibly diffuse it or otherwise divert it, perhaps?

A decent set of radio triggers would be the best solution... Flash In The Pan sells them on here

Yes you can - on both the D300 and D700 (I think) you can set the on board flash to commander and -- and only the trigger flash will fire not the main flash. You can shield this from having any effect on the subject.

As Andrew says, you can set it to "--" in the camera menu and it shouldn't have any effect on the exposure. Alternatively you could invest in an SG3-IR (under a tenner)
