What is the latest tech out there now?
I was looking at the Yungnuo RF60 but it seems that is more for light triggers.... I have a Godox XPro light trigger, seems pointless buying light triggrs...

Is there anything more specific to shutter remote trigger???

There is an IR version that is call RC-1.

I just gave it away last week...one of the few things left from my Canon days i didn't manage to sell.

I used to use the Yongnuo RF603’s on Nikon a few years back. They were about £20 and the most reliable remote trigger option I tried we good range too.

Are these strictly not flash related triggers? I have the Godox XPro, and their radio 860ii speed light, surly any Yongnui will fight my XPRO? Or I don't ned to spend all that money on light triggrs when I don't need them?

They are infared, I think I need radio trigger... As I plan for real estate so might be hiding in other rooms holding flashes etc...?

The budget option is yongnuo. If I remember rightly the 603 doesn’t trigger the shutter but the older 602 does, or the 605 in 602 mode. I have the 605s and they work well for canon 5DM3.

the RF-603N (mk 1 and mk 2) triggered the shutter on my nikon cameras with the nikon remote release cable plug. I don’t think I have the right cable to try it on my canon R6 (I think it needs a 3.5mm jack plug both ends now). I will see if I can get the right cable to try it as it worked so well for me previously.

Thanks Rob, I've just checked and my memory failed me a bit.

603 works if you press the test button on the transmitter, the receiving unit will fire the trigger. What it doesn't do is allow you to trigger a remote using the shutter button on another camera. For this you need the 602 / 605. For the OP this complication doesn't matter.

I am now confused.. These Yongnuo are mainly light triggers yes? All s I need is ability to have a device in my hand and fire off the shutter from up to 10m if needed, and hopefully if I get camranger view the picture right away,...

Yep that’s what the yongnuo triggers will allow you to do. They are versatile not only light triggers.

So the receiver goes in your hot shoe, will the Godox xpro still work and slot into the Yongnuo hot shoe?

Should do, otherwise just attach to the tripod. I can test over the weekend, I have the godox xpro too.

The receiving younguo connects into the shutter release port of the canon 5DM3, that’s all it needs to do.

You have the transmitter yongnuo in your hand and press the button on it to take the shot.

Like you say I used to use it on a remote camera and press the button on top of the other trigger. The remote camera was only triggered occasionally so I didn’t want to operate it off another camera. Being a remote wildlife camera the wildlife hardly ever went near the camera!

There was a very nice YN MC-36R which I had and worked wonders until it no longer worked for whatever unknown reason.... and you can't get them in most places but may be worth a look
