Evening everyone.

What would you recommend as a remote release please to use with my Nikon D850.

I am going to be doing some more photography indoors so will be using a tripod for still subjects and want to avoid shake, so going to use a remote release.

Which ones would you recommend please?

Thanks!

I've been using the Hahnel Captur system since the D850 first came out Gaz. Once you find your way around, it is extremely useful. Battery life has been very good too. I initially had problems understanding all the modes but a quick call to Hahnel here in the UK proved to be most helpful.

Hey Mike! Thanks for the quick response, I shall check that one out!

Remember, if you might buy from Wex, we have ads running at the top of the screen in Talk Equipment (this forum) and some other forums and if you click on them to get to the Wex site, anything you buy gives TP a tiny commission.

Remember you can also use the cameras self timer mode for this type of shoot where you want to avoid camera shake.

I have both the MC-30 and a cheapy Neewer one - both work fine, but for slightly different use cases. The MC-30 doesn't require batteries and usually lives in my camera bag in case it's needed. The Neewer one is useful for multiple exposures and setting a delay between shots, etc. In all honesty though, these days I usually just use the self timer

I use a PixeL Pro TW283 on my Nikon D810 - it always works well and I have had no problems with it

I had a few compatible MC-30 remotes for various Nikon bodies with the 10 pin connection, and all have worked fine. They also have the benefit of not needing batteries if just used as a remote, and only needing batteries when the intervalometer function, or timed release is used.

Maybe a bit overkill, but I would also use the mirror lock up function in conjunction with the remote, or use the liveview option, both have benefit of opening the shutter prior to taking the image to reduce the small, but possible, effect of the mirror slapping out of the way and causing shake. Some that may be more noticeable with such a high MP camera.
