Remote IR Wildlife Photography with Flash

Hi all,

I'm breaking into the field of IR trip wildlife photography.
I have a beam which when tripped fires the shutter.

I am interested in where I should position my flash gun.

With the camera, i.e. directly at the subject? Diffused? Not diffused?
