Remote firing of Canon flash gun

I am looking for an optical trigger to fire a Canon flash gun (Sunpak PZ42X).

I have 2 Lencarta studio lights and I would like to experiment with using the Sunpak as a 3rd light to light the background. I assume this idea will work but previously when I bought a slave trigger it failed to work with Canon flashes - something I have now read about.

I have seen "SYK-3 SYK3 Universal Mount Wireless Flash Remote Slave Trigger For Canon Nikon" advertised on Ebay which claims to be compatible with Canon.

Can anyone confirm this? Or better still offer me an alternative way of using the Canon Sunpak with my studio lighting? Many Thanks.

There's a known problem with Canon guns and optical slaves - they'll fire once, then have to be turned off to fire again!

Not sure if the same applies to Sunpak guns for Canon, but these Sonia slaves will work with Canon guns (and any other brand) - the green one, and the one with hot-shoe here http://www.colinsfoto.com/Sonia_Optical_flash_slave/cat43953_47721.aspx

Yep! Both of those work fine with almost any brand including Canon. The green peanut slave is rated at 100V. The hot shoe version can handle 400V so is good for older flashes with high sync voltages.
