Anyone using a backup service such as LiveDrive? If so, any recommendations and reasons for would be welcome!

Starting to look like a tempting way to ensure I don't lose my pics, and can also access them anywhere...

Not masses, say maybe 100GB initially, download is 10MB upload will be whatever tiny fraction of that number that a home broadband provider allows

Remote backup is one of the best backup softwares. Remote backup is nothing but on-line backup. A number of companies provides on-line backup services for consumers which are connected Internet, they automatically restore his files and documents in a desired location. They provides passwords to secure our files and valuable documents. 100GB will cost you a fair bit of money. Have you though about investing in a NAS box ? most of them come with backup software ( and win7 and OSX have their own ). Also I suspect you have no more than 512mbits upload, which for 100GB will take around 450 hours at best that is almost 3 weeks of constant uploads. You might also breach the limits of your transfer quota from your ISP. I backup my photos on my file server ( a bigger NAS box ) and then copy them onto hard drives that I keep at my mate's house :)

I also have a NAS that I bought specifically to back up 3 computers and to store my photo library on ( mine is about 80GB). You can also back up the NAS to a separate drive or you could get one running Raid.
At the moment I have my Mac backed up to it using Time Machine, I have the photo library on the NAS and also a USB connected hard drive. I suppose to be safe, I should store the USB drive somewhere else.

Check out jungledisk.com. It will backup up your files on the first run the only backup changed files there after so keeps the bandwidth usage down. Pretty cheap too. I use on our office servers and works a dream
