Hi all,

Just wondering if there is a body to register with for sports (mainly football) photography

I know certain types of photography you can put things like ****** accredited/credited etc, does this work with sports photograhy aswell?

Just wondering as I am taking more and more of an interest in this field having been plublished three times this week :D

just wondering if I could then go to other clubs/areas covering for papers or do I need to be credited or registered with a body?

to add I would have media access from local papers

Hope this makes sense

Thanks

i would suggest that if you dont already have one get a conference licence
but you will need to prove that you have £2million PL insurance once you have this if you are going to a game email or ring club quoting your number and bingo just have to market you picks then.
i think we may have meet at gateshead ?

This is my business email sig.. hopefully it shows I am serious.. either that or a big head :) But seriously.. I put it all in to show ..well... dunno. but it impresses some folk.. hopefully customers:)

Not done anything at Gateshead yet but you never know

Who do I see about getting Football Conference Licensed? quick google didn't bring up much

Nice sig Kipax :D

I have a Conference Licence but Gateshead FC refuse to let me (at least) in unless I'm there for an agency or paper and can prove I am being paid to be there. Had no problems getting into Darlington, York or Rushden this season though. Went to Wrexham and Mansfield last season with no fuss either.

Surely that is fair enough? Really, the league should be checking whether or not the applicants have an outlet for the pictures

they do give them out a bit free and easy to anyone that asks... but once you ahve one then you ahve one... gateshead are in there rights to refuse but i dont see why they do.. whast wrong with free publicity..

i ahve dealt wiht the conference league for quite a few years and they ahve alwasy been supportive of photogrpahers and happy to have pics published anywhere and everywhere... years ago i checked mine was ok as selling pics online and they said yes they are happy wiht my website and its a good advert for the conference league.... thats when most of my collections where conf pics :)

I have no problem with that and apparently the league will be doing this next season. I used to work for the club and after leaving still supplied my pictures to the Press Officer free of charge, until this season at least.

definitely agree with all that, didn't mean for it to come across blunt, just trying to justify their decision, can't see how a photographer not doing anything with their photos apart from putting them on flickr is helping as publicity though?

sorry if i have caued offence not your web site but home page says won four awards while Programme Editor for Gateshead Football Club etc ect
thought there was some history but again sorry
consider my a**e slapped

Gateshead FC informed me such in an email.

Do you know who you spoke to at gateshead at all?

reason I ask is because I know a couple of people there so will see if I can find anything out re access, I work there (on site but not as part of the football however) every day

Edit - Thanks to all for the help so far, emails sent to the relevant people

I did used to be connected with the backroom staff at the club. Moved to South Yorkshire - don't see why that would make them suddenly want to deny me access? Mind you they can be a silly lot
