Have just ordered a 5 way reflector am new to all this can someone give some advice on reflectors please?

Mick, I have the Kood set from ebay and use it mainly for macro nature work. I also have a Lastolite Sunfire/Silver as I was advised the Kood gold reflector was too strong.

Basically, you use the diffuser to soften the light falling on the subject, and the reflectors to put some of it back where you want it.

I found this video with more info...

With a 5 way, white puts bright light in, black takes out reflections, silver, I find a bit bright for portraits and gold is fantastic for warming skin tones. The best bit of advice I can offer is to rope in a friend to direct the light where you want it. I like to try to pick up light in the model's eyes using one with some diffused daylight. Really good for adding that extra bit of light into shadows indoors. Experiment without the camera in your hand and just observe what happens to the lighting. Have fun!

thanks am going it to be using it generally for outdoor shots and possibly indoors am going to get another couple of sb800's

A very good video well worth watching
