So what is the truth about reflectors? Are they any good? I have seen pictures of people using them for portraits of people and babies, among other things. If they enhance the natural light that has to be good! If I was to try one out where would I get one? And what size? Any experience with them?

Thanks in advance!

They are used to balance the light out, and put some light back in the shadows, therefore reducing the harshness of the light. Obviously that is going to help in certain lighting situations... There are loads on ebay. I'm sure if you did a search you would find loads of info on reflectors. ;)

A reflector is an essential accessory for any portrait photographer. Nice window light, reflector, all you need.

Make one out of a sheet of white card, maybe 2x3ft. Cover one side with silver foil for a stronger effect.

I got a good one off Flash In The Pan with a handle for £15. It's silver/gold post #3 here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=157807

If you look at the lastolite website - you'll find a large number of options in terms of reflectors.. What would you want one for? Is it for portraits? babies? or something else? For use inside or outside?

I don't know what I want it for. To mess with it and learn I guess! So everything. What size is best? I am looking at getting a 5 in 1 but what size?
