Looking to buy a set of reflectors and am looking for recommendations on what to buy and where to buy it.

What type are you after ???

Reflectors for studio lights or hand held version ???

If it's handheld you want I'd go with Lastolite Trigrips - superb imho.

From experience I would just say buy the biggest you can afford :D that way you will never need to buy more if you decide to scale up your subject :p

I'v been planning on buying a 1.5 x 2m all in one reflector of ebay for around £50+ postage... which wpuld be great for outdoor portraits imo.

for head and shoulder and maybe half body portrait work I can make do with a 80cm/32" reflector, I have a £35 Lastolite one, which I hate because it just turns itself into a Pringle all the time.... useless ****, and I have a cheepo 80cm 5in1 that came with my studio lighting, its much sturdier, and in my opinion, better

Hi...giot an 80cm from FITP for under £10...great silver and gold...hi also has the handle type...

I will be buying an ebay one soon...40" x 60"...with stand and arm for under £60 from HK...

Just for the record, If I were to buy again I would also go for the Trigrip type of reflector, I feel they are a more convenient shape and more flexible than the round ones

If you plan on using it outdoors, definately a trigrip. Trying to hang on and control a reflector in a breeze is a nightmare. At least the handle gives you a fighting chance.

Really depends on what you want them for. If it's studio, I'd highly recommend getting some 8'x4' Polystyrene sheets, and paint one side black. Otherwise as has been mentioned. the Lastoilite Tri grips are excellent. I goy a deal on the 8 in one with a holder, which is very useful if you're on your own and don't have a spare hand! Plus it comes with a flash bracket so makes a good bounce too. :)

Thanks for the replys,

It will be used mainly for on location portraits (i.e in peoples homes), Mainly Kids, Couples and small familys. I will always be working alone so I looked at the lastolite uplite which looks great but is a bit expensive.

It seems the lastolite trigrips get a thumbs up from everybody so maybe i'll give them a go.

I dont suppose you have a link for FITP ??

For what it's worth I highly recommend the sunbounce gear! Yes they are expensive but they are awesome at directing the suns rays..
