Ok, so i have realised that my library is a little outdated, lol..

Can anyone recommend a decent set of books that i can take out with me, (pocket books) that have the following;

Insects and bugs: Info, pictures, migration, breeding habbits, feeding habbits.
Birds: All of the above

A few times people have posted pictures of birds and insects requiring ID and my books either dont have them or the "really annoying painted pictures" are not that comprehensive/detailed.

My grandad used to have a book on fish when i was a kid which had photo's of the fish and was a brilliant book.

The new birdwatcher's pocket guide to Britain and Europe is very good and a consise guide to the Birds of the British isles is also ok.

The first mentioned gives more picture detail of the birds,ie colour of chicks,females,males ets. the second mentioned has larger photographs

This one has a different cover to mine but otherwise seems the same. This author also has a book on butterflies.

I hope this helps you
