having finally worked out how to use my camera for video I've now got a couple of short HD videos. Is there any way of reducing the size/quality for uploading to you tube etc. or should I have shot at a lower resolution in the first place.

I haven't got any video editing software yet so at present I'm stuck with what comes with windows but I'm happy to spend a bit on some editing software if it's necessary.

YouTube has a limit of 15mins or 2Gb per video. If your videos fall within that, you can just upload it as a HD video. YouTube's software will do the converting etc.

Hi Mike if you have windows movie maker you can open your video and then export to you tube choose the size then automate the upload, other than that you can save the avi in a nunber of didierent way from the save movie on the file menu

Thanks Dave,
I've got windows live movie maker which enabled me to reduce it in size. Didn't seem a lot of point in uploading in HD.

I may invest in some more advanced editing stuff when my videos get good enough to bother editing.

It's on you tube. Quality of the camera work is poor but as a first attempt at ISO 12800 I'm quite impressed.

That was me when my mate bought his first reflector :-)

You may find the need to reduce the file size if you do some 'proper' editing. Some PCs can struggle with HD footage.

I tend to use Format Factory (free) which can convert video in between a whole host of different formats.

Have you noticed the black lines (top and bottom) of the video? If you go to YouTube you will find plenty of tutorials which show optimal settings for YouTube (although many consumer programs now have the built in).
