Redsnapper 283 or 284?

I'm looking at getting a new tripod, and can't decide between the Redsnapper 283 or 284, which are the same except for height & number of sections.

I'm 5ft10", and my main use is landscapes and wildlife. Heaviest gear is my Sony a700 with Sigma 135-400 (about 2.2kgs).

I like the idea of 3 sections, but wonder if anyone has a more logical way of selecting the right one? Advice welcome!

Unless you need the shorter folded up length, then get the 283. You won't need to extend as much for the same height. I think it has a little higher capacity. and it goes higher if you need it.

Another vote for the 3 section one, unless you need it to fold up small for storage/transport.

I have the 384 for the smaller folding size and no complaints. Takes fractionally longer to set-up than the 383 but the size over small time more important to me.

I'm happy with the 284, although I dont like the three way head I got with it, at some point I will upgrade it.
