Red Dwarf...new series.

It's on Dave and I think it's a three part special called Back To Earth...

And that's all I know...

:agree: that was utter tripe and no where near being a 'good sendoff' to a great show :(

I was wondering if it was just me that felt that way, reminded me of the "reunion" episodes of Only Fools - they never seem to know when to leave well alone. John Cleese had the right idea with Fawlty Towers......

I thought it was alright. The first episode was the better one of the 3, but not up to the standard of previous series. Was a weird plot.

One of the first things i noticed was how old Craig Charles and Chris Barrie look after all these years. Danny John-Jules doesnt seem to have aged, and as for Robert Lleewelyn (or something)..he's hidden by Krytens mask, so a bit tricky to tell.

They could of done alot better, but it could of been worse.

It was O.K. - nothing near as good as the original series, and not even near series 7 and 8 neither.

i havent seen them however my dad told me that the main problem was that they werent that good, and then playing some of the classic HILARIOUS episodes afterwards confirmed how dire they were.

i shall watch over the next week and get back to you all with my opinions!

very dissapointed, even so it was good to see them back on

Even Cat looked like he only had 3 lives left lol

gotta agree here-that was a major dissapointment..
While a huge fan of RD,for me it just didnt seem as though they managed to get back into charactor..
The originals were full of moments when Cat loooked genuinely clueless (and happy with it),Rimmers expressions used to have you in stitches..
Now it all just looked...."Strained"
*Sigh*
Guess im just an old git who wants things back how they used to be

It was very poor imo - I wish they hadn't bothered. :( The "Making of" was far more interesting!

Leave Well Alone...

Just as Richard Todd IS Guy Gibson in The Dam Busters...

You don't mess with a classic...

Perfectly reflects my opinion too.

If they do a remake it's just gonna be even worse, 1-6 great, 7 & 8 ok, back to earth a bit pants, that makes remake utter crud

I too was disappointed with these :( I mean Lister in a suit?! Did anyone else find that wrong..

And only yesterday I saw a trailer for a remake of reggie perrin on BBC starring martin clunes as the man himself. Hopefully that will fare better than red dwarf.

Thought it was 'OK', but didn't the basic plot premise remind anyone of that of 'The League of Gentlemen' movie. ie trying to keep the series alive by finding the writers/creator of the original series? Not too original perhaps.

glad i missed it as i loved the original:thumbs:

I thought it was pretty poor...

So very slow in terms of dialogue, and just didn't hit the spot.

I agree, I had sky+'d it so it was tempting to fast forward as it got so boring at times. Bit of a shame, other parts where quite funny.
