While in my hide yesterday the Merlin Bird App picked up a Red-billed chough, I didn't see it and with not so good hearing I rely on the app, just wondering if it was a Red-billed chough how rare is it in this part of the country?
Thanks,
Russ.

didn't someone post an image on here a couple of weeks ago - seen in the UK

Hi,

Excuse my ignorance and my butting in, but I thought all choughs had red bills (and red legs)! I didn't know that they were becoming scarce, what a great shame!

I took this in South Stack, Holyhead about 11 years ago and have seen them there quite frequently in the past. Regretfully I have not been able to get there for a few years so can't comment on their current popsition.

The Merlin app is not 100 % accurate and should be used as an aid and not relied on. Whilst chough was possible it is unlikely. You may want to check to see if any were seen near to you.

Wales is also good for them. Captured a bunch there when I hit skomer Island last year.
