A problem that I've never had before, I'm hoping that someone can help . . .

I took some photos yesterday, 2nd day of a product shoot. Nimon D3, CF card.

Then I moved them instead of copying them (big mistake) from the CF card to the computer, into the folder that I used on the first day's shoot.

Then I opened all of these (raw) images in PS to take a quick look at them. I think that they all opened.

Then Photoshop closed itself. I opened it again, but the latest images are simply not there. I haven't used the CF card since, so hopefully they will still be there in some form or another. Does anyone know how I can recover them please?

Are you certain they have gone - if you view the folder they are in is it empty? I wonder if PS hasn't failed in some way and can't display the images?

Very many thanks, it recovered 182 files, not sure whether that's all of them or not but it's certainly most . . . So, thank to you, problem now solved. I'm now going to make a donation to the software developer.

Yes, folder showing as empty, except for the ones that were already in there from the first day of shooting.

I've been using various incarnations of PS since about 2004, never had any kind of a problem before. At least I've learned from it, in future I will upload images to two separate folders and will copy rather than move them.

I ALWAYS do multiple backups, both on and off computer, but these backups have always been once the images had been processed . . .

Check the image numbers & time stamps on the files - that will give you a good guess as to if you have missing files.
