This is something i want to give a try! (i have some items id like to sell)

I'm assuming I would require some kind of Softbox Cube Tent with lights beaming either side

A standard SB 600 Flash maybe also on the camera and boom... or.. maybe not

To be honest I have no idea, I am just assuming from looking around the web

so all advice and a nice little set-up would be great!

Thanks in advance

Easy start 'what items?'

Ranging from blurays, steelbooks, books, sweets all sorts but no clothing
Small then?

You could try a light tent, but a couple of med sized softboxes, a snoot, reflectors w honeycombs would be my choice. Maybe a small light table.

3 lights, speedlights would do, but you might want modelling lights if you're learning. I'd personally build it up s/h but you could just go to Lencarta with a shopping list.

If you do start searching for used, be aware of the mount system you're buying into. Whilst some kit has interchangeable speedrings, you could buy yourself frustration if you don't stick to either EL or S fit.

What camera are you using with what lens and what level of colour accuracy will your products need and are you selling on the web?? or...

Cheap kits on ebay are invariable crap and a waste of money. Use any old light you like and learn to diffuse it and reflect it into shadow areas on your product with mirrors or foil reflectors etc.
Thats a good way to start the journey into knowing what level of kit you ultimately want.

So many ways to take great product shots, just use google and take your pick.

Steve.
