Hello, I'm very new to all this and I am really struggling to know what is best to go for. I'd appreciate a little bit of help.

I have been doing my best to educate myself on cameras but I'm not finding it easy at all, there is so much to learn and so many to choose from.

Im looking for a compact digital camera for my daughter that will be 12 when she receives it. I am wanting to spend around £200 to £300 second hand. I'd really appreciate any recommendations for the best cameras to look for in this price range.

TIA.

Honestly....Google Pixel 6.

Why?

You don't need to buy storage.
It has a couple of "lenses".
It is more intuitive to use.
She can edit it on the phone.
She can share it to people on it, even if you don't put a sim card in.
It won't be frustrating to use at the start.

If I were to recommend a camera, say an older DSLR, you are going to need to get a body, a lens....then will need to ask what she use it for....probably going to say - family (24-70 range), close up of things in the garden (macro), or birds (far away - tele), before you know it, at minimum you are looking at like £1000 and the results....honestly...will be disappointing if i were to sugar coat it, turd will be the realistic answer. I mean you can get a compact but they are all quite slow to use.

Google Pixel 6....the computer inside it will help to get better results will don't discourage her in taking photos.

Is your daughter interested in photography and does she have a studious approach to learning? If so then an older style APS+C crop sensor camera would be suitable but otherwise maybe just get her a digital compact camera with a zoom.

You haven’t said why you are buying your daughter a camera. Absent that @Raymond Lin ’s suggestion is perfect.
