I wondered if anyone has any suggestions for a really good book on learning DSLR photography? Any of these on amazon any good?
There are so many to choose from a personal recommendation would be great.

I bought the Scott Kelby book and found it very good indeed. Haven't tried any others - yet.

Havent seen that link before, very good bookmarked that one.
It has everything you need to know....

I am doing something similar with amateur photographer magazine.
Foundation in digital photography course and you get a certificate at the end.

Learnt loads from doing the course as you get feedback from the homework you send in...

Undwerstanding Exposure should be your very first read, alongside these forums.

Agreed. Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson is the absolutely best book around. I constantly refer back to this for inspiration and reference. this is a photographer's bible IMO.

:plusone: I agree too, best book i've ever bought. Worth every penny IMO

Another vote here for that one! I have also bought the book for two people for Xmas. You do need to have a basic understanding of how a slr works though. This might sound like a stupid question, but have you read your camera manual? I learned lots from it!

Another vote for Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. I have the first two Scott Kelby books as well as 'Digital Exposure Handbook' by Ross Hoddinott, and whilst these are all very informative, I found that I probably learnt more from it.

I have recently started out and have bought the Understanding Exposure book and also this one Which is aimed more at the creative side.

I think both books are very good.

I have the first 2 basic Kelby books and like the style and approach. Not a lot of theory - he tends to do very much much " set your camera to these settings - to get this type of picture".

I havent got his new 3rd book - but I would try and buy 1 & 2 first.

Another "Understanding Exposure" vote from me. This was the first book i read on photography and for me still the best. I re-read it every now and again when i'm not sure on something
