ive took the plunge of gone and bought myself a Canon 60D + Canon 18-55mm IS II Lens for everyday photo's and a canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L USM lens for the machloop what other lens would you recommend

I have a 60D, what type of photography do you do? That would make it easier to recommend. I have a Sigma 10-20 uwa for landscapes and architecture, it gives great effects. I also replaced the 18-55 with a Canon 24-105 f4L as a good walkabout lens. Its not too heavy but gives great results. I just need something to replace the long end now and my choices would be the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 which is a bit out of my price range so I'll probably go for the Sigma 150-500 instead.

in my old kit that im replacing i had a 14-55mm lens 40-150mm lens and a 70-300mm lens i found the first 2 lens ok for everyday use but the 70-300 wasn't up to the job up the loop so ive took the plunge and invested in the above canon equipment

It depends what your budget is and what sort of photography you want to do (apart from the Loop)?
I use a Canon 24-70 f2.8 for most general stuff, with a 70-200 f2.8 for candid portraits etc. When "Looping" I take the Canon 500 f4 now, although the lens of choice up there is still the Canon 300 f2.8 (with the Canon users anyway).
I also have a cheap Sigma 105mm macro lens which you can pick up for £200 second hand and although not the quickest to focus, it's pin sharp.
