OK, so my office chair is way overdue for a replacement as the padding for my butt has finally gave up the ghost.

I have looked on the internet all day for a comfortable replacement and to be honest they all look the same, but have different names. Seems that they are all made in the same Chinese factory but sent to different distributors to sell on. Found a few on amazon, Rymans and the range and they are more or less identical with prices ranging from 125-200 pounds.

What are you lot using at the moment ???? would love to hear some comments about comfort, longevity, what NOT to buy and so on.

Budget is around the £175 mark but could stretch that for the right chair.

PS, a one that reclines slightly would be an advantage as I have a TV in the room that I like to watch films on.

Visit a Rymans etc. and see what YOU find comfortable.

Have you an IKEA store nearby? We have bought office chairs from them in the past, still going strong.

Being of a larger build than average ,the only ones I have found that last are from ikea . The majority these days are made in China and the lift mechanisms go before the seats do

Rymans round here just sell ink and paper and stuff like that, they have loads on the website but I know they have none in my local Rymans.

Yup. along the road outside the Metro Centre, looked on their website also and they do not look at all comfortable.
Was looking at something with a fair amount of padding in the seating area. Something like this LINKY

I bought a chair from Noble who make gaming chairs.

Been using it as an office chair since we started first lockdown in March 2021. I didn't buy the cheapest option but I cannot fault it and would expect their less expensive options are just as well made. I spend a lot of my day in this chair so adjustability and lumbar support were important as was good reviews of the company as well as the chair.

I got this one.

Another possibility is a second hand office furniture shop. When offices are refurbished it seems everything is thrown out even if it still has a lot of life in it.

Same answer I've given for over a decade: Herman miller Aaron.

It's only expensive when you pay for it. I think my second hand one might be over 15 years old now. I could still sell it for about what I paid for it.

Ideally you should try before you buy to make sure it meets your requirements and is comfortable. We have had a few Chinese chairs but in my experience that are not well made and have a limited lifespan. Office clearance stores are worth a look but can still be expensive. Costco may be worth a look if you are a member.

Good shout about Costco, I might have a look tomorrow to see what they have in store, and their returns policy is about as good as it gets.
