I'm not quite sure where to post this, so Mods please feel free to move it, if there is a better place.

My sister has a watercolour painting painted by a Grandparent and she would like to get it photographed, printed and framed as a present for another family member.

Can anyone recommend someone to do this in the London area please? She's in West London.

Many thanks for any pointers.

Have you tried an on-line search for "Artwork copying West London"?

How big is it? A professional scanning service might be better is all...

I am only know of this company by reputation and no doubt there are other companies that that can provide the service but it cannot hurt to see what they can offer?

It is not that difficult if you are decent in photography. How much resolution do you need? Presumably you have a body to match, a decent 50 to 100mm prime. tripod. The rest is about getting suitable lights. 2 large lights at 45 degrees is the most basic setup that should avoid flare. If you need texture you may need to modify accordingly.

Depending on size, I’ve scanned watercolours and printed them onto 300gsm rough and smooth paper. They look like actual watercolours when done, not photographed watercolour.
They look great when framed.

She’s only shown me a picture of it in her wall. It looks to be about A3. Maybe smaller.

Professional scanning service would be great. The only ones I know here just use the usual photocopiers I think… and I’m not in London. As Andrew rightly pointed out, I hadn’t thought to google for one, but a personal recommendation would be good.

Yes, if she lived nearer me, I would do it. I’m not sure what cameras they have, but they’re not experienced photographers.
I’ve been photographing a local history WI scrapbook from the 1950s recently.

That’s great to hear. It might be a lot cheaper. I suspect it will need a large scanner, but I don’t think it’s larger than A3. I have a suitable printer.

That’s great, thank you! I will have a look. A good reputation was what I was after really.

Sorry for all the replies everyone, and thank you for taking the time. I should have put my replies in one post.
