Hi,

Can anyone recommend any photography courses for beginners? The wife and I would like to be able to learn how a DSLR should be used properly, without always having it set to auto.

Preferences:
Online vs evening classes? - preference is online due to time (baby) constraints.

Budget - somewhere up to £200/£250

Would appreciate any responses or guidance.

The Open University does a course which would suit you. It is called Taking and Sharing Digital Images, its code is T189, the next one starts in May. The cost is £175 and includes a copy of Photoshop Elements.

Thanks for those. The OU course has no access to tutors (just feedback from other students) which I think is a little limiting.

The ProudPhotography course looks good value for £65. Are there any other online courses with access to a tutor - or is the best option to post photo's on here and ask for your expert feedback?

cheers,

Amateur Photographer runs some online courses - I believe there is some access to a tutor as well.

I have no experience of these courses - I opted to do a C&G Level 2 at my local college in the evening in the end.

Just chipping in on this thread but has anyone heard of or done any courses from these folks? http://www.goingdigital.co.uk/slrcameras/furtherslrphotography.htm Seem pretty good from the specs on what is covered and quite fancy learning more 'properly' rather than through trial and error but would be great to get some opinions from anyone that has heard of these? Hopefully might help the OP too?

Hi Chalky, I run a practical one day course on the south Downs and brighton seafront if you can get day pass....courses run on saturdays and alsomid-week if demand exists. See the main menu in my signature.
