I'm looking for basics. Three requirements are 1) inexpensive (no profoto £2000+ systems!) 2) portable and quick to setup and 3) cover full height portraits. I was hoping to get away with just white walls but everyone suddenly is talking about full height...

Presumably white is the most useful but I would take kit with black and maybe even green just in case...

Am I looking at a min 2.5m stand height and 6m cloth length or I am overestimating?

I have ruled out and in fact got rid of the lastolite hilite in the past as it takes so much space and effort to put up and re-pack.

Not sure I would recommend a cloth background unless you want the hassle of ironing it before use or removing the crease in pp. Go for either paper or vinyl.

Grey paper is a useful colour.
Can be made to look grey, black or white.
I use one of these and it works well.
Easier to assemble than the cheaper ones that use wing nuts to hold the support bar on.
Stands are air cushioned too.

The reason I don't want to go with paper is because I really don't fancy moving a 3m long straight roll. I'm sure its fine in a fixed studio, but I don't have this luxury.
Maybe I'd get away with 44" roll for a single person, I am not sure...
I presume vinyl can crease badly too if folded; the lastolite floor piece certainly did.

Do cloth or muslin one crease really badly?

Vinyl you have to roll on a tube. You can get car length paper rolls, cloth does crease, or when you fold it shows the lines.

You can steam them out but is a time consuming each time you set up.

I would have thought if the funds for the original payment had cleared and were shown as available funds in your balance - and you refund those funds back to where they came - your bank would protect you should any unauthorised payments come out of your account subsequently?

It does lead you to wonder what happens if you all of a sudden receive a bogus £10,000 from someobody's compromised account - would that money leave your account again without your authorisation? I can't see the victim getting a refund for £10,000 from the bank without the bank trying to recover the monies?
Sorry think you may have the wrong thread.

As a test I've gone for a miserable T-stand from Lencarta. The idea was I'll do pets, and single portraits where this could be set up a lot quicker and is lighter. It kind of works, but just... The stand itself isn't the best. It will do for a start before I add a proper 2 stand version for bigger jobs. Where curtain pole is available I'm just tempted to use that for convenience... Or white wall with white sheet thrown for the floor to save time and hassle.

Now the background itself is a more interesting things. The cloth (2x3m, Lencarta) turned out to be just a basic cloth, like your typical bedsheet. I hope it will do a job. Now I'm thinking about ways to light it for white. Presuming the subject is 1m away, can I just backlight it with 1 or 2 speedlites like you do with Hilite? Or use 2 from the front from each side?

What about the Lastolite Panoramic background? Comes in three colours, black, white and green?

I think the OP wants to keep the cost down. Looking at WEX the green Pana background is £419.[emoji12]
