Looking for a good book to broaden me knowledge os studio setups, mofifiers and there effects etc. Especially in relation to children / family portraits.
The hot shoe diaries for studio if you like.
Any recomendations ?

I can recommend DVD's and free online tutorials.

The first is the free online Adorama TV with Mark Wallace on youtube, it has some great snippets regarding studio photography.

Your probably already aware of strobist 101

The dvd I love is Zack Arias One Light DVD. It teaches you concepts which can be used in studio photography, even though most of it is location photography.

Let me know if you find anything as I am always looking to add knowledge to what I have already learnt.

Thanks, will have a look.
Do like a book for reference rather than digital media.

The Speedliter's Handbook: Learning to Craft Light with Canon Speedlites by Syl Arena is an excellent book. As the name implies it's specifically referring to Canon equipment but there are many general principles covered too.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedliters-Handbook-Learning-Craft-Speedlites/dp/032171105X

The author doesn't denigrate ETTL & insist that real men only use manual flash so has a lot of useful information on how to correctly & creatively use ETTL.

Read the many 5* reviews on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedliters-Handbook-Learning-Craft-Speedlites/dp/032171105X

Sorry, looking more at studio lighting setups, using modifiers, images showing all the different modifiers in use etc. Got plenty of strobist stuff for my speedlights, this is more for learning studio lighting, basically for playing and learning.
