I was thinking about getting some rechargeable batteries (AA's) and a charger for my SB800 & SB600. Can anyone recommend any?

I have read about chargers that will individually charge the batteries and stop when they are ready so as not to damage them. Would it be worth looking at these?

Chris :)

Chris,
I've a range of rechargables, from various, sources. You'll probably get and charger and batteries combined. Go for at least 1800mAH, if you can get higher then fine. look out for special offers. I got 8 AA 2500mAH from Maplin for £9.95 a few weeks ago. ( no charger, well what do you expect at that price).

Some chargers rely on a timer rather than detecting the charge current. You can find that these may not fully charge the higher powered batteries, you'll possibly need to rerun the charge cycle again with these.

Thanks for that Chapers. Maplin are pretty good for some things. I will have a look there.

Chris :)

As already mentioned by Chappers, some chargers do not fully charge the cells. It's mainly the rapid chargers - I think they err on the side of caution. Trickle chargers tend to be best. I use a rapid charger for conveinience, but If I have the time, I use the rapid charger and then put them in a trickle charger for several hours to top them up.

Steve, I just bought the 2800mah nmhs. with computer controlled charger from 7day shop.com. So far very pleased with them, and the charger does charge each individually & also detects individual falty cells. Batteries £4.50/set of 4 & charger around £13.
