I have option of manual and title mode. but when I take pictures the flash doesn't go off

camera I use is a Nikon d3300

Get some fresh batteries is a sure first move.
How about the RFM idea as second move?

sure will so the battery are showing 1 bar, whats RFM?? sorry still learning, the speed gun stays on but doesn't flash

First thing is to check the flash itself works.
With the flash off camera, turn it on , then hit the test button - point it away when you do this, the flash can be bright!

If it does, then you should just need to mount it on the hot shoe and the camera will detect it and use as required (set the flash mode to TTL).

is there a test button on the flash to make sure it fires?

I have read the manual and its not good at all, there is a flash button on the gun but it lights up red, thats with 4 new AA duracell batta in too

it lights up red

Red?

That means the unit is fully charged and ready to work.
Usually, that red button IS the test button!

In TTL mode does the camera "notice" the flash?

i.e. does it set the shutter speed to 1/60 for example?

In ttl mode it says my aperture setting on the screen, no camera notice flashes, and it says m.zoom 50mm

The red light flashes green every few seconds, it mounts my camera fine yes and it stated in description for a d3300

No camera notices flashes?

My D750 noticed my Neewer flash.

Sounds like you know all you need to get it working mate.

No mate no camera flashing at all on the screen, but its shows my aperture on the screen.

Do i need to change any of my camera settings? Nikon d3300

You should see a symbol in the viewfinder when the flash is fully charged, don't own a Nikon, but I'd guess it's a lightning bolt symbol?

IIRC some lower range Nikon cameras don't allow high speed sync, so to test the flash, once you've succeeded with the flash test button.

Try the camera in full manual, set 100 ISO, 1/125 SS and f8.

See if the flash fires with the shutter

the flash test button isn't even woking Phil, nothing happens, yes your right, when I look through the view finder I can see a flash when I press half way, but no flash exceeds at all, I've tried all iso etc, I found a video on youtube of the same model with a guy having the exact same problem and reading the comments, many had this issue which turns out to be a faulty speed gun. I've requested a refund, on their selling page it does state for all Nikon dslr cameras also.
