The sky seemed right, light levels good, parked up and set the camera up..... no cars came by... 5mins later..... nothing.... light starts to fade, so I packed up and headed home, at least I didn't blank and come out with nothing

Can you see what I'm hinting at?

That would have worked, if I had second person to operate the camera, as I drive up and down to get the trails, leaving gear unattended is not someting I'm willing to do, knowing my luck it'll get swiped or more likely fall over into the drink :)

Go back another day, set up in the same place, get some trails and overlay it on that pic. The sky is perfect, the ground could do with some lighetning up too, so a perfect reason to get a second exposure in there!

Thats an awesome plan, thank you

I only reckoned it'd be a viable option as you said there was no-one about but I suppose you don't know it'll stay that way.

And stupidly enough, I never considered how you'd activate the shutter!

New plan needed!

Just get hold of a remote and fire it off on a timer just before you drive off. Pull a quick U-ey and grab ur gear when its done :P

Hi Emily

Stick at it and you'll get there - nice shot by the way

This was my first trip to the lakes for the lowflying aircraft...

All I got that day was a sun tan - not 1 flew by and I was there all day !!! I've kept at it and got some great shots.

If you want to cheat a little with the light trails - find a motorway bridge :D

I've done that - it needed a short exposure - about 5-10 secs, so a remote trigger as you start to drive past.

If no-ones around and the camera is secure - no problem. Don't forget you can double the trails by driving forward and then reversing - you get white lights the other way then as well
