Yes
Well we are supposed to be off to Spain tomorrow and of course as everyone knows thats now off.

TUI has offered me a voucher for the holiday price plus an extra 20% as a sweetener :D

Now, me and the wife were discussing the matter last night and to be honest we do not feel like going away this year with the way the world is at the moment, and the foreseeable future.

What are your plans and thoughts about your holidays this year. Are you going to rearrange or just cancel ?

I do not think that it will be the same going away for holidays for a very long time yet.

I don't have any holidays booked, but if I did, I would be inclined to forget it, not just this year, but next year as well at least. We don't know to what extent, secondary spikes of infection may have, not just here, but other countries as well. Plus we don't as yet know whether the virus will return again next year, some are concerned it might. If it does to what capacity. We seem to be hearing more and more new things about the virus, I would be inclined to let everything about the virus stabilise, until more is known about it.

Cancelled two trips to Germany, one in April and the next one in June, still got a trip to the Netherlands in August.
If travel is allowed by then will probably go, no more risk there than here and could do with a change of scenery.
One train all the way so no different than going somewhere in the UK, if you can go to work why not holiday too
Obviously would want to try and ensure their citizens are ok about tourists, if not would cancel.

I’ve already had one flight to Spain and took the voucher option because I will rebook it as soon as I can. In fact I’m supposed to be there this right now.
I also have a holiday to Florence booked for the first week in July and I’m hoping it will happen.
Off to Sevilla in October too as long as the Spanish open the borders.

Agree with you there , I’d love to shoot off somewhere abroad but until things are back to normal it’s not worth the risk, it’s not the places, I like to be away from the crowds but there’s no getting away from crowded airports and no way in a plane can you minimise risk

We are meant to be going to Los Cabos, Mexico in July to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, it's looking very unlikely. We paid £1000 deposit in October last year, we were meant to pay the balance last week but my Mrs. called TUI and they have now push our balance due date to 28 days prior to departure. If ( and is most likely) we don't go, we have already disscussed moving it to next year, we looked at the same holiday for next year, same(ish) dates, same hotel, same aircraft seats....gone up £2400!! so even with the 20% sweetener its still going to be a whole lot more expensive. The option now is a different destination (maybe Costa Rica?) next summer instead.

We have had a full refund from jet2 for our cancelled flight in April. We still have two more trips booked and we will tackle each one as they come along

As soon as we can get to our usual destination, we'll be heading there. Booked for June (cancelled by TUI) and September (hoping but not really expecting to go).

We have abandoned our 2 trips in this country this year, one cancelled and one re-booked for next Easter. Luckily we had only provisionally booked for the Italian Lakes and had not paid anything.
I think we will be staying at home and doing day trips until there is a vaccine or more chance of over 70s surviving.

thats exactly what we talked about last night, total uncertainty of what will happen over the next 6 months at least. Even if the virus peters out in 3-4 months time we don't fancy running around a packed airport never mind a confined space on a plane.

I think re booking for anything this year is a shot in the dark.
I kinda feel its a good way to put yourself under pressure to do something that might not be in your best interest from a health perspective.
I won't be leaving the country this year.

I've left trips booked for now. Realistically not because I expect to take them but because I hope to claim on travel insurance when the suppliers cancel

I doubt we'll even be allowed back in the theatres and pubs this year, let alone travelling abroad for holidays. :grumpy:

I think it will take a lot longer for things to recover than people are hoping for. Our lives will be changed forever because of this . . .

I suspect you're right.....my ambitions this year have shrunk to getting home

I would forget it this year, while we will probably be allowed to travel, there may be bug restrictions in terms of pools, bars & restaurants, so it really does dampen the holiday.

We are supposed to be going to Cornwall last week of July but i am expecting to cancel as we will just end up being stuck in the cottage.

We had thought about Australia in August but before all this had already decided to probably do it Easter 2021 although I am not certain on that - paying all the money for a once in a lifetime holiday, I want it to be perfect!

Australia has shut its borders to all but permanent residents or citizens. I hope that’ll be resolved by Xmas but I’d leave it this year

We had an Emirates business return flight from Australia and they cancelled on us half way through the holiday so we had to return with Qatar. We could get a pittance cash refund or keep the return portion of the ticket open for 2 years. We will return to see our family again at the end of next year and use the Emirates ticket.

Yes, Easter 2021 was the earliest, although now thinking if Nov 2021 (only due to the lure of maybe catching an Ashes match), or more likely Easter 2022.

Fortunately got all our money refunded on planned holidays for this year. I think it is far too early to consider rebooking any holidays. I suspect many airlines and hotels will unfortunately fold over the coming months. Looking forward it would be prudent for everyone to thoroughly check their holiday insurance as I have read some companies could be changing the cover supplied.

Were supposed to be going to Turkey in August and really dont want to go now. I was thinking about either getting a full refund or put it towards a holiday of a lifetime next year with the same travel agent. If offered, I wouldn’t accept vouchers as if the company goes under your not likely to get anything back.

As someone in the vulnerable group, there won’t be any holidays for me this year, next year and maybe beyond.

In all likelihood I’ll be in isolation for the next few years.

With me being born in Melbourne I had many great holidays round Australia, then once we moved to the UK we still had great holidays around the world. Now I`m 58 I have been to all the countries I wanted to see but now as I`m like Danny being in the vulnerable group no more holidays for me.

Have a holiday booked in Lake Como for October which has not been cancelled (by the holiday company yet), and will go if it is still on. looking at cruises for next year.

Cyrus cancelled in April, Crete still on for now in August, will wait and see, negative is no holiday, positive is a shed load of cash still in the bank.

I think you would have to be a total muppet to get in an airplane any time soon without a PP3 mask on every second of the trip, no chance.....

I’m in the same boat having also had a holiday booked with TUI. One thing I have noticed is the offer is for “up to 20%” which is a largely meaningless phrase. It may well be that the 20% is only applicable to full price holidays. I’ve tried clarifying but the responses keep saying the same phrase without clarifying.

if you fancied a trip over xmas 2021 the ashes is being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground which is an experience. If I'm still here (unlikely past the end of this year, but the way things are anything is possible) it'd be great to catch up & I'll show you around Melbourne

We cancelled our California break which was for 3 weeks 2 weeks ago, but we got extra "airports" if we cancelled and rebooked, so booked again for September, which hopefully will go ahead! Now searching for something for something during thanksgiving, as always head to NY for the parade etc.

Fortunately we went to Cuba in February, just before things kicked off.

we had trips to Germany booked for end of March and end of May, both cancelled. 2nd trip was to a car meeting in the Black Forest which has been rescheduled to August but some participants believe it will be cancelled for this year.

If foreign travel is possible before the year end I will try to arrange something, I don't want to spend it at home or to cash my holiday allowance in (and get stung for tax)

I would take the cash refund I expect you are entitled to. Will you really want to go when holidays are available again? Will TUI still be around? Various articles in the press suggest that you can only get a refund by phone (if you can get through) and only when the initial refund credit has been issued (supposedly to make sure you don't get both), e.g.:

We’re chasing up a refund for a March holiday that was cancelled and are still waiting for the refund credit note to arrive, promised for next week now, they keep trying to persuade us to rebook for later this year or next, I looked at ‘the great offers’ out of interest, 40% rise in some prices against this years prices, rebook, I think not, just gimme ma money back and we’ll staycation.

Which company was that with, wasn't TUI was it ??

Just checked the same holiday next year and with the 20% TUI have offered we can get 10 nights instead of the 7 we had this year. Given that we would still be covered by abta I am now tempted to defer to next year instead of asking for the money.
