Your recommendation is appreciated or opinion on

The Slash 4 X 4
The Stampeed 4 x 4

For a 9 year old, I have narrowed it down to the Slash 4 x 4 Brushless using Nimh batteries to start then go to Lipo gone for stability at the slash seems to be more stable

Well it is OOF after all....:D

if i where to get one of the two you mentioned it would be the slash a great little truck for bashing.i have not bothered with rc cars for a few years but i go to the local rc car club to watch the racing in the summer and quite a few young lads race the slash.its a good starter car

I would go with the slash 4x4 brushless, they are very quick and having a brushless motor saves you need to "upgrade" it later, as you say just change to LiPo batteries at a later date.

This is my current racer, its an Acme 1:8th scale dune buggy 2WD brushless electric, I added the FPV gear.

Nice one ! Confirming what I thought, gonna have a happy lad for Christmas I think.....Mrs gonna get me one so we can race! ha ha.........

Thanks!

Does that give real time POV while racing / driving or just record.....Cool!

It has two cameras, the one in the roll cage gives me a live feed back to my goggles for POV whilst driving.
The one on top records the action.

What I see when driving through the goggles

The recording from the cam on top
