So what are peoples thoughts on the difference between 2005 and 2006 full version?
 
I didn't think there was a 2005 full version?

I thought they'd only released two versions.

Raw Shooter Essentials 2005
and
Raw Shooter Premium 2006

Edit, you mean the differences between those two? :doh:

I bought it when the first offer was available, and I'm glad I did.
Using Premium takes out a lot of the processing work that needed to be done in PS.
Premium has levels, curves, saturation, luminance and a lot more adjustment tools, that aren't avaiable in RSE.
 
I upgraded to Premium pretty well straight away and I find it a far more complete package. :)

I agree with Matt - but.....has anyone bought the Colour Engine and if so what do you reckon to it?

I am using Premium and have been since its release.

I did not bother with colour engine as I was having major issues with the colour calibration of my system without it, adding in another variable at that time was not something that appealed.

I may have a look at it soon though.
 
The colour engine is probably like a photoshop action.

When RSE first hit the scene, a lot of people were making the switch from Capture One and wanted colour profiles that to give certain colour output for their images.
These colour profiles cost about £100'ish from memory (quite expensive IMO).

I think Pixmantec have created their own version of the colour profiles that were being produced for C1.

I'm sure the author of RSE / RSP is the same guy that created C1 (bit of useless knowledge).
 
It is interesting to read that Andy Rouse has chosen not to use Colour Engine despite him being a representative for Pixmantec and being heavily involved with RawShooters development.

Have you noticed the horizon isn't staright on the habitat shot?
The polar bear on the ice (Image #5).
 
I've seen purple snow in images of wildlife before today.
 
Interesting stuff - I've been a fan of Andy's for a while now.
How does using Rawshooter compare to working in CS2? I have to work with what I get issued, so if there's a case to upgrade to another editing program I have to be sure that the actions can't be replicated using Photoshop.

The best advice I can give is to download the free trial, its fully functional so you will be able to see first hand how it compares.
 
Having had a go, I think I'll be sticking to the CS2 RAW interface. Seperate thread some other place as to why, if anyone's even vaguely bothered.
