RAW?

I am sure this may have been answered before but here goes..

For those of us shooting in poor light at non league grounds, do you get a better final image by shooting in RAW and then adjusting in photoshop, as opposed to shooting jpegs. (I am not talking about needing to send images via wi-fi / 3g, I am making adjustments in my armchair!!)

With most cameras you can usually extract a little more detail from a raw image compared to jpeg. If you also have poor light requiring higher iso settings then in-camera noise reduction tends to smear away detail with the noise. Shooting raw means you can take a more measured approach to noise reduction, maybe using a third party NR program like Neat Image. It all depends how much time you wish to take on your images.

I was shooting Hi1 25,600 ISO today just to get a 1/320th shutter speed and no amount of RAW processing would have helped in those conditions

I make a habit of shooting RAW as it has saved my behind in other situations where my exposure hasn't been right (or more often my white balance).

I am not sure about noise reduction I have never tried it on a RAW file because I do the following:

RAW -> Lightroom -> Jpeg -> Photoshop -> Jpeg
