As title really ,which one do people think is best for converting Nikon RAW files?

I would suggest View NX, it's claimed by many to be far better than photoshop with colours and noise, with Nikon images. I don't use RT so can't offer any meaningfull comparrison between the two though.

I would agree. View NX is not very clever in terms of manipulation but it does recognise your camera picture settings and is optimised for Nikon obviously.
I have tried RawTherapee for Sigma SD14 X3F files and IMO it is quite good at manipulation but the resulting images are a bit clinical and unnatural looking.
 
Thank you for your comments I tend to use View NX now as you say it is limited what you can do but seems to work ok.
