Hi All,

Trying to find the easiest method of reviewing pictures using my Samsung Q1 ultra pc.

I have decided that when I take photos at the wedding in Cyprus they will be in RAW. This basically to ensure I can make the best out of the pictures.

Just installed the Capture NX software that came with the D300 but as I expected it is so slow on the Q1 that it is pointless.

For those that don't know the Q1 has a CF card slot so is ideal for reviewing and when I take pictures in JPEG they review very simply using the Windows Picture Viewer. However the RAW files are only shown as very low resolution images in MS review.

The only way I have found at the moment is to save the images as JPEG and RAW, but this obviously takes even more space! At the moment this is how many images I am getting out of a 4 GB CF card:

Raw: 197
Raw + basic: 173
Raw + Norm: 155
Raw + Fine: 128

So Raw and basic may be the only way unless you have any ideas.

Regards

Chris

I use exif-pro

http://www.exifpro.com/

Fast, views raw files, free if you don't mind the splash screen.

One little bit of software I couldn't be without.

On holiday with the laptop I use googles Picasa for viewing RAW files. It does its own best guess at correction before it shows them to you so it is no good for seeing if the exposure was right before processing but for a simple review or slideshow it is fine - and fairly quick on a low powered laptop.

Hi Les,

That is exactly what I need and never new existed! Many thanks for your help.

Hi RobertP,

Thanks for advice, I think the exifpro is perfect though.

Many thanks both.

How cool to ask a question and get an answer so quickly!

Regards

Chris

XnView is free for personal use and handles several RAW formats.
