Hello all

Now I don't know if this has been asked before but i'm going to ask anyway :D I do like the effect of infra red filters, but is there away of getting this effect in raw converter or photoshop CS3. I would like to do some colour versions.

Well many thanks for your help in advance

When i say infrared i mean the effect a hoya R72 IR gives effect. not sure if this effect can be done in photoshop or not or i just need to buy the filter.

Go to the channel mixer and under the presets there is a IR option and you can tweak from there.

Arh sorry i forgot to mention i know this way already, but it only does B&W in the presets. i want to do mainly colour versions. sorry, but thanks for the advice.

After you done that just open the hue/saturation up and colorize. IR is red naturally if that is what you mean.

No, sorry if ive confused you i mean with the Hoya R72 filter effect a true infrared effect. my fault for not explaining right.:bang:

Power Retouche to simulate conventional B&W filters, but note what they say about IR:

We have had several requests for infrared plugin filters, so we will explain why we have no such plug-ins. The answer is simple:

Infrared images can not be extrapolated from regular photos: They have no infrared information in them! A photo only has information from the visible spectrum - obviously, otherwise parts of the image would be invisible - and the infrared band is invisible. Infrared films transpose the invisible infrared rays to a part of the spectrum in the visible range - or to white in Black & White IR photography. So unless the original film is infrared-sensitive and does that transposition, it's not possible to extrapolate IR data from photos. Anyone who claims to provide an infrared filter, plugin or otherwise, for regular photos, is providing a look a like. You can never emulate a real infrared photo, only make an imitation.
