Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me please. I've just upgraded my camera to a nikon d90 and i understand its better to edit pics in RAW. My camera is set to raw + jpeg. I dont know how to get the RAW files onto Adobe CS2. All it seems to do is put the jpeg ones on. Can someone explain (in plain english) how I can do this please.

I have cs2 and have no trouble at all.
I must admit though I load mine manually one at a time so i pick and choose which files to load.

The way i do it is:

File - open - select file from your pc - open it select a pic - and it opens it - Then it opens in a window so click open and viola

Hope this helps

Have you installed the Adobe Camera Raw plugin from the Adobe Web site? If not, download and install it. Then you should be able to open your raw files, I think they end .nf2 or something like that, canon is CR2!

Cheers,
Carl.

Nikon raw files are .nef - I'd be surprised if CS2 would open D90 files, unless you convert to DNG.

The latest version of ACR you can use with CS2 is v3.7. The earliest version to support the Nikon D90 in v4.6, which is only compatible with CS3. :(

As Andrew said, you can use the latest version of ACR, which is v5.6, but you would have to convert the Nikon RAW file (NEF) to a DNG file, which will increase the file sizes but allow you to use any version of ACR.

You can download the latest DNG converter and versions of ACR here.

Hope that helps. :)

Maybe we should have a what ACR supports what cameras and where to find the DNG convertor as a sticky?

I'm totally lost on trying to sort this problem out. Thanks for all your suggestions but I think I'll have to give it up as a bad job. I'll have to try and get CS3 or CS4 sometime and give it a go again.

Thanks again

It should be dead easy if you download the free Adobe DNG convertor, it will convert your raw files into something that your version of Photoshop will understand.
